Joseph Ribkoff pants are made in Canada. Many styles use a pull-on waistband with no zipper or button, which gives a smooth line under fitted tops, and most are left unlined for a lighter drape. Available in black and other neutrals through to seasonal colours and prints.

Pants by style

• Straight-leg — clean lines and subtle tailoring, suited to the office or any polished occasion.
• Pull-on slim-fit — a streamlined cut with an elastic waistband, good under longer blouses and structured jackets.
• Wide-leg and palazzo — a fluid silhouette that works with cropped or tucked-in tops.
• Cropped, culotte and ankle-length — tailored hems, flared cuts and details like gold buttons or ankle slits.
• Printed and textured — animal prints, florals, geometrics and jacquard textures.

Fabrics

The fabric does most of the work in a Joseph Ribkoff pant, and the collection covers several distinct families:

• Silky knit — typically 95 to 96 percent polyester with 4 to 5 percent spandex. This is the most common fabric in the range, and the reason these pants travel so well: it drapes smoothly, resists wrinkling and recovers its shape after a day of sitting. It stays cool and light against the skin, so it carries through the year rather than belonging to one season. Found across printed pull-on styles, wide-leg trousers and joggers alike.
• Scuba crepe — a bonded knit, usually 95 percent polyester with 5 percent spandex, with noticeably more body than silky knit. It holds an architectural line, so wide-leg and flared styles keep their shape rather than collapsing, and the matte crepe surface gives a tailored look. It is wrinkle-resistant and substantial without being heavy, which makes it a favourite for evening and occasion styles.
• Scuba jersey — a softer, more fluid relative of scuba crepe, generally 55 percent viscose rayon with 40 percent polyester and 5 percent spandex. The higher viscose content makes it markedly softer against the skin and gives a more relaxed drape. It is used where comfort leads: joggers, relaxed wide-leg cuts and the JR Sport styles.
• Millennium fabric — Joseph Ribkoff's signature stretch fabric, around 76 percent viscose rayon with 21 percent nylon and 3 percent spandex. It reads as a crisp woven trouser but moves like a knit, with strong stretch recovery that holds a smooth, contoured line. It is wrinkle-resistant and structured, so it suits the office and long travel days. Often finished with a contour waistband and a signature JR ornament.
• Jacquard and sweater knits — patterns knitted or woven into the cloth rather than printed on the surface, giving real texture and depth that a print cannot. Compositions vary widely, from polyester and spandex through viscose, nylon and acrylic blends. These are heavier in hand and warmer to wear, so they come into their own through autumn and winter. Lay them flat to dry so the knit does not stretch.
• Boucle and tweed knits — looped, nubbly yarns knitted into a soft textured cloth, often in plaid or multi-tonal colourways and sometimes shot through with metallic yarn for a little shimmer. They are typically polyester-led with cotton and viscose in the blend. Warm and tactile but far lighter and more forgiving than a traditional woven tweed, and frequently offered with a matching jacket for a co-ord look. An autumn and winter fabric.
• Bonded velvet and leatherette — stretch-backed fabrics for evening and statement pieces. Velvet runs around 92 percent polyester with 8 percent spandex, with a plush pile that catches the light. Leatherette is generally 68 percent polyester, 26 percent polyurethane and 6 percent spandex, giving the look of leather with a soft interior and multi-directional stretch. Neither should be ironed directly, as heat damages the pile and the surface coating.
• Twill and Lux Twill — a firm, smooth-faced cloth with a fine diagonal rib. In this collection it is most often a stretch twill knit, around 92 to 96 percent polyester with spandex, which gives the crisp look of a tailored trouser with the give and comfort of a knit. It presses cleanly, holds a pressed crease and resists creasing through a long day. Used mainly on fall and winter styles.
• Satin — a heavier woven satin with a liquid surface sheen, made largely from recycled polyester. The weight is the point: it falls in fluid folds and catches the light with every step, which suits wide-leg evening and occasion trousers. Often detailed with front pleats for structure. Iron only on the reverse with a cloth to protect the weave.
• Denim — including Featherweave, a modal-blended cotton denim that is markedly lighter, softer and more fluid than conventional denim while still holding its shape, and Repreve, a stretch denim made with recycled polyester from plastic bottles. Both carry a small percentage of spandex for comfort and recovery. Cuts run from classic five-pocket straight legs to high-rise palazzo jeans.

Sizing

Joseph Ribkoff pants are offered in numeric sizes 2 to 22 and lettered sizes XS to 2XL, depending on the style. Inseams generally run from around 27 inches on cropped and jogger styles to 33 or 34 inches on full-length flared and palazzo cuts, so it is worth checking the individual product page. Care

Most styles are hand wash in cold water, inside out, then hung or laid flat to dry in the shade. Sweater knits and textured jacquards should be laid flat rather than hung so the knit does not stretch. Avoid tumble drying, and iron only on the reverse and never directly over rhinestones, metallic trim or leatherette.

Styling notes

For the office, pair tailored or slim-fit pants with a crisp blouse or a blazer, with low heels or loafers. For travel, wrinkle-resistant pull-on pants work with a tunic and a light cardigan. For evening, a wide-leg or printed pant with a fitted top and statement earrings.
